ALOE VERA

Aloe Vera creates a far more effective base to cosmetic formulations than water. Aloe helps create a proper moisture balance to the skin. The plant is grown in dry, arid regions, so it must pull evening moisture from the atmosphere to survive. Thus, when applied to the skin, it pulls moisture from the atmosphere to help replenish the needed moisture balance in the skin.

There are over 200 different species of the Aloe plant. The Vera species is the most effective. The word "Vera" in Latin means "true," which describes this as the true Aloe Vera plant that has all the beneficial qualities.

Aloe Vera also helps speed cell division to damaged skin, cutting the healing time on skin irritations normally in half. There is a natural proteolytic enzyme action that naturally occurs in Aloe Vera, which helps remove dry, dead skin cells.

GLUCOSAMINE AND MSM

Glucosamine and MSM (Methyl Sulfonyl Methane) are two of the most widely used natural supplements for pain relief, inflammation and tissue repair.

Glucosamine is a form of amino sugar found naturally in the body that is believed to help people rebuild damaged joints, tendons, cartilage and soft tissue. In a 1999 press release the American College of Rheumatology proclaimed that Glucosamine reduces the signs and symptoms associated with knee osteoarthritis.

MSM (Methyl Sulfonyl Methane) is a natural sulfur compound found in all living things. Although MSM occurs naturally in foods, it is lost from the food by heating, storage, processing, drying, cooking and preserving. MSM has been shown to add flexibility to cell walls while allowing fluids to pass through the tissue more easily. Research has shown that MSM can inhibit pain impulses, promote blood flow and reduce tissue inflammation.
 

Cetyl Alcohol: lubricant and helps emulsify oil and water formulations. Is non- irritating nor drying and is not related to isopropyl alcohol. Not supposed to be acne-forming.
Stearic Acid: Essential fatty acid.
Dimethicone: also a form of silicone; gives slip and glide to products: has been used in some scar therapies.
Glycerin: hydrates and provides a skin barrier; allows topical agents to go on very smoothly.
Oleyl Alcohol: "fatty alcohol" acts like an emollient (decreases water loss from the skin and softens it.
Zanthoxylum Alatum Extract: Native North American plant that is used in reducing stress and nervous tension.
Horse Chestnut Extract: A mild freshener used in products for sensitive skin.
Comfrey Extract: A source of allantoin and mucopolysaccharides, used in cell therapy treatments. Soothing and moisturizing.
Calendula Extract: The common Marigold (Calendula officinalis), a known skin tonic and freshener.
Chamomile Extract: A softening agent for rough, dry skin, used since ancient times for its sedative and emollient effects.
Retinyl Palmitate: considered a more stable alternative to retinal for normalizing the skin’s texture and helping smooth out fine lines.
Cholecalciferol: Vitamin D3
Tocopheryl Acetate: Vitamin E
Allantoin: An extract from comfrey root used as a soothing agent and moisturizer.
Panthenol: a B vitamin (B5), works as a humectant (holds water in the skin). May promote healing.
Ethoxydiglycol: Viscosity decreasing agent.
Carbomer: stabilize and thicken products.
Diazolidinyl Urea: A cosmetic preservative.
Methylparaben: Preservative derived from benzoic acid.
Tetrasodium EDTA: It's a chelating agent (sequestrant) that reacts with sodium, calcium and magnesium salts found in hard water and "makes" them water soluble.
Propylparaben: A cosmetic preservative.
Triethanolamine: An alkanomine used as part of an emulsion system in conjunction with organic acids like stearic acid.
